30 MINUTE NSDR - Feeling Okayness
It's advanced to rest for 30 whole minutes, with an aware mind and calm body!🧡 This practice helps you connect with an underlying feeling of okayness while training your attention to remain on your breath and body sensations. In non sleep deep rest, you shift from thinking and doing to feeling and being. This shift can help you to reset dopamine levels and create an internal resilience for your life. Plus, there's a surprise visualization practice hidden toward the end🧡 In my work with people over the years, it's clear that terms like 'well-being' and 'peace' can be off-putting and seem unreachable or too conceptual to really feel. The term 'okayness' can get more to the heart of it for people: showing up with a feeling of being okay just as you are, and letting that be enough to help you let go a little bit and gain the most benefit from simple moments of rest. Enjoy!🧡 New book coming called DEEP REST, early 2027. In the meantime check out one of my 2026 retreats by joining my mailing list: https://kellyboys.org/contact

Introduction and settling into a 30-minute non-sleep deep rest practice
- Listeners are invited to get comfortable for 30 minutes without moving, using props like a bolster under the knees, a pillow under the head, or a weighted blanket to support deep relaxation.
- The practice begins with gratitude toward oneself for taking time to turn inward, followed by letting go of whatever happened before this moment.
- Attention opens to all five senses—taste, smell, touch, sight, and sound—inviting the whole body to be 360 degrees open to sensory experience.
- Five extended exhalations are guided, with each exhale twice as long as the inhale, optionally exhaling as if blowing through a straw.
Establishing the foundational sense of okayness and welcoming awareness
- The core move of Yoga Nidra is noticing, welcoming, and allowing thoughts, feelings, and mood tones without becoming entranced or fused with them.
- There is no correct way to do Yoga Nidra; the heart of the practice is welcoming whatever is here while leaning back into spacious awareness.
- The starting point is resting in a fundamental sense of okayness—'it's all okay in this moment just as it is'—including thinking, emotions, memories, body sensations, and even resistance.
- Attention is guided to ride the wave of the breath in and out, with relaxation behind the eyes, in the belly, palms, and feet.
Whole-body awareness and the beginning of the body scan on the left side
- Practitioners sense the whole body at once from heels to the back of the head, noticing any tightness or openness and welcoming it as it is.
- The body may feel as though it is breathing itself, with an underlying okayness and welcoming presence for things as they are.
- Attention then moves to the entire left side of the body, sensing beneath any mental image to the felt sense of tingling, numbness, or other sensations.
- The breath is used as an anchor, riding its wave in and out while gently reorienting attention back to the left side whenever the thinking mind intervenes.

- welcoming and allowing— The first move of the practice: noticing, welcoming, and allowing whatever arises.
Kutipan penting
There's actually no correct way to do Yoga Nidra.
💡— It overturns the common assumption that meditation or deep rest practices must be performed perfectly, freeing the listener from performance anxiety.
Even if there's a refusal or resistance present, that's welcome, too.
💡— It reveals that even resistance itself is not an obstacle but something to be welcomed, which is a surprising and liberating reframe.
Tindakan nyata
🧠Mindset
There is no correct way to practice deep rest; it's about exploring your experience as it is.
This week, set aside 10 minutes to sit quietly and simply notice whatever arises without trying to fix or change it.
Welcoming resistance and discomfort is part of the practice, not a failure.
When you notice resistance to a task or feeling this week, pause and silently say 'this is welcome too' before proceeding.
🌬️Breathwork
Extending the exhale to twice the length of the inhale activates deep relaxation.
Practice five extended exhalations each morning this week, inhaling deeply and exhaling slowly as if through a straw.
Attention can gently ride the wave of the breath without forcing.
During a daily activity like walking or commuting, spend 2 minutes following the sensation of your breath in and out.
